ALL the focus seems to be on the carers – I am one – but what about the clients of Stratfield House.
My husband is very active and Stratfield House is safe and secure. The care centre gives him music – which he loves – games, quizzes, card playing, reading aloud from the daily newspapers etc.
His brain is sick and needs constant stimulating which I cannot do full-time – the care centre can. He comes home exhilarated and happy.
How can I tell him he can’t go to see ‘the girls’ anymore? Taking this away is cruel beyond words.
He needs smaller groups where he knows everyone and is comfortable and not confused. Without Stratfield House he will retreat into a shell – I know. The thought is heart-breaking for me. I am terrified as to how I will manage without Stratfield House.
The staff are wonderful.
