A LIFE-SAVING defibrillator could be installed in Rockwell Green at the Christian Fellowship centre.
Cllr Marcus Barr asked at the January meeting of Wellington Town Council that a public defibrillator – which can be used on someone
in the event of them having a
heart attack – be bought and installed in a suitable location in Rockwell Green.
It was explained that it would first be necessary to identify a suitable site with a power supply and be clear about where it is going, who would be responsible for maintaining it and who would pay for its installation and the power it used.
The town council has already provided a defibrillator in Longforth Road and grant aided the Sports Federation to provide one in the North Street car park.
But the council’s environment committee recently decided to obtain the owner’s permission to put a defibrillator in a suitable location at the Christian Fellowship centre in Rockwell Green.
Councillors have also asked for statistics about the use of defibrillators in the town.
