A MEETING was set to take place on Tuesday (January 14) to see what can be done to improve the Longforth Road public toilets in Wellington.

Wellington Town Council, which owns the toilets, which have been plagued by vandalism and maintenance problems, agreed late last year to carry out a full review of the loos and to keep them open.

Town clerk Kathryn Hemensley told councillors that discussions had been ongoing with two contractors specialising in public toilet refurbishment.

She said that an appointment to meet one of them at the site was due to take place on Tuesday.

“The contractor is currently working with the Somerset West and Taunton Council as part of an appraisal for its toilets in Taunton,” said Ms Hemensley.

“SWT has plans to spruce up its Wellington public toilets at Wellington Park and North Street with a lick of paint.”
