THE Wiveliscombe Area Partnership hosted Lord Lieutenant of Somerset Annie Maw and her Deputy David Wood for the presentation a piece of engraved crystal and a certificate signed by Her Majesty the Queen to mark its Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.

Mrs Maw stressed the importance of volunteers in the communities in which they work. She enjoyed talking to guests assembled at Wiveliscombe Community Office, including passengers who use Wivey Link every week, partnership directors, office volunteers and members of staff, all of whom were able to share their experiences with her.

Everyone involved in the charity was overwhelmed by the award and a spokesperson said: “Without our volunteers, there would be no Community Office or Wivey Link – no vital hub for the area. They are the jewels in the crown of the Partnership.”
