The Christian Centre at Rockwell Green is set to host a Free and Fun music-making course, Songfest – Music Making, Singing & Songwriting.

The course, which will run on Thursdays, March, 5, 12, 19 and 26, from 10am-2.30pm, is open to adults with some or no musical experience or budding lyricists.

Instruments including guitars, drums, keyboards, percussion and ukuleles will be provided, along with a small PA with mics, although some participants choose to use their own instruments.

Fodo Higginson of Moorvale Creative CIC said: “Making music and writing songs with others is a great way to meet new people and find a creative outlet. Playing instruments and singing are great ways to relieve the stresses of everyday life”.

Individuals who have previously taken part have given positive feedback on the sessions. To book a place or for more information contact Fodo at [email protected]

The sessions are fully funded by Somerset Skills & Learning.

They are especially for those who are experiencing social isolation and lack of confidence due to factors including lack of access to participatory sessions due to rural living, unemployment, parenting young children, lone parenting, mild to moderate mental health problems, grief and recovering from drug or alcohol dependence.
