CHARITY trekker Andy Lock stopped off with his supporters at the Wellington Weekly News on a 90-mile hike from Plymouth to Taunton in aid of Scotty’s Little Soldiers.

Andy served in the Royal Marines for 12 years during which he did two tours of Afghanistan.

He was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in 2012 and was then based at Hasler Company HMS Drake where he decided to use his time to help raise money for charities and help others. He was discharged from the Marines in December last year.

Andy’s trek from Plymouth to the 40 Commando Memorial Garden carrying a 50lb bergen took four days and meant two nights sleeping rough.

Michael Waldron, a civilian from Wellington; his son, Court Fields School student Cameron Ebrahimi-Waldron, 13; Tommy Kibble, an ex-Royal Marine with nine years’ service based in Wiveliscombe; and Barry Wilson, ex-Light Infantry based in Taunton, joined Andy for the last leg of 18 miles from Tiverton to 40 Commando.

Andy was welcomed with applause from the CO, the RSM, the Company Sgt Major and 20 other serving Marines when he arrived at 40 Commando and they provided the party with warm drinks, Port, food and refreshments.

Andy raised money for other charities last year, running ten

half-marathons for fallen comrades charity Adams Hoofing Hut (https://www.justgiving.com/

fundraising/Amy-Tardelli-Brown) and he ran 24 hours on a treadmill for the Willow Foundation (https://www.justgiving.com/willowfoundation).
