Taunton School was the venue for the much anticipated ‘Party in the Park’, organised by Somerset’s Freemasons on Saturday July 2. Originally planned to celebrate the successful conclusion of their 2020 Fundraising Festival, the event had previously been cancelled twice due to the Covid.
During their 2020 Festival, a total of over £2.77 million was raised by the masons who belong to the 89 Lodges spread throughout Somerset. This sum gave a financial boost to many of Somerset’s local charities, as well as national ones too.
The Party was a huge success, with over 420 guests enjoying an evening of great musical entertainment and food in the large marquee set up in the school grounds.
Somerset legends, The Wurzels, headlined the event, playing their individual style of West Country music which included all of their much loved hits.
The party’s organiser, David Flack, said: “I am delighted that we have finally been able to hold the Party at Taunton School as intended. It was a great success. The atmosphere was amazing and was a fitting way to celebrate the fantastic amount raised for charity by Somerset’s Freemasons during their 2020 Festival.”
The party concluded with the guests being escorted into the school grounds by a bagpiper where they were treated to a spectacular laser light show which was a memorable finale.
