FORMER Wellington rugby player Matt Parsons is documenting how families are coping with the lockdown during the coronavirus crisis.

Matt, 36, who lives with his wife Nadine and daughter Luna, two, at Beech Hill, Wellington, is taking doorstep portraits to comply with social distancing restrictions.

Matt said: “It’s something they can keep to remind them of the lockdown which we’ve never experienced in our lifetime. There’s no charge but they can make a donation to the NHS or a charity of their choosing if they wish.”

Matt is a sports coach working in local schools. He took up photography four years ago as a hobby, which has now turned into ‘something more’ with a number of weddings already booked for next year.

He added: “I would like to think that I could do this full-time one-day. But at the moment I’m enjoying what I am doing.”

Matt played more than 250 rugby games for Wellington before taking up refereeing and coaching. He is still in touch with the minis and junior section.

n As part of his PE role in schools, Matt has set up a YouTube channel for children to access free online PE games they can play at home with their families. It’s called PE with Mr P.
