MAYOR of Wellington Cllr Gary James and his wife Bee were invited to Wells Cathedral for the High Sheriff’s charity concert Celebrating Somerset.

The event was to promote the efforts of schools, colleges, universities, community organisations, charities and others who train and develop creative talent.

Performances featured music, song, contemporary and classical dance, including Wellington’s own Avtar Indian Dance, plus poetry and storytelling by Jeremy Irons.

The charity event was in aid of the Somerset Crimebeat Trust.

Cllr James said: “It was a wonderful evening’s entertainment showing the best of Somerset’s cultural artistic talents from the past to the very present.”
