“I was very proud of the way the town coped with things since last Thursday and the extreme weather conditions,” he said.
He thanked all those with 4x4s who helped neighbours and getting care workers to and from work during the snow.
“It was a real fantastic effort by everyone and I’d obviously like to thank the emergency services for everything they did as well,” he added. “It was great to see Wellington pull together as a community.”
The Mayor was thanked as well by the council for his efforts in getting medical prescriptions to people.
