SOMERSET County Cricket Club captain Tom Abell has always dreamt of driving a Mercedes, writes Richard Walsh, and now, thanks to Mercedes-Benz of Taunton, that dream has come true.

Tom was born in Taunton and grew up playing through the Somerset Pathway and Academy programme before making his first team debut in 2014. He was appointed captain in 2017.

In 2019 Tom, 25, led Somerset to victory in the Royal London One Day Cup at Lord’s and runner’s-up spot in the Specsavers County Championship.

Mercedes-Benz has a proud history of supporting sporting heroes, most notably via its formidable Formula 1 team.

Mercedes-Benz of Taunton is excited to extend this support to celebrate the finest talent across Somerset and Devon, and Tom will be the next host of its Masterclass series, offering cricket coaching to local schools, as well as other community events.
