TEAM Mermaids have handed over £500 to Wellington-based dementia charity Reminiscence Learning after swimming hundreds of lengths of the town sports centre’s pool.
The team completed a combined distance of 68km, or 2,720 lengths of the 25m pool, equivalent to crossing the English Channel and back.
The team was made up of Jennie Liddel, Anna Newland-Hooper, Amy Alderman, Tara Rowland and Samantha Bradford.
The money will go to the charity’s inter-generational dementia awareness Archie Project, which links with local schools.
The money was raised online through a Just Giving page and through donations at Claire’s Hairdresser’s in South Street and to dementia nurse Samantha at her workplace.
