Everyone is invited to the Wellington Wassail at The Dolphin pub in Waterloo Road, Wellington, this weekend.
Wellington Folk and Custom Society is blessing the apple trees, and visitors are invited to take along pots and pans, drums, whistles and bells to scare off the ‘Maulscrawl’ spirits.
The Wellington Wassail 2017 Singers will be there to sing, share and guide visitors through old songs, along with the Wise-Maid, Song Keeper, Master of Ceremonies Mr Double Danger the 2nd, Modred the Dragon and folk dance team Mayhem Border Morris.
Traditional folk songs and music sessions will follow in the pub – singers and musicians are welcome to join in.
The event is being held for the seventh year on Saturday, the old Twelfth Night, meet at 7.30pm with the event starting at 8pm.
