VANDALS are reported to have laid waste to saplings planted less than a month ago by volunteers as part of the first stage of a community woodland project in Wellington.

Good tidings for local firms as they are shortlisted in Somerset Business Awards 2026A number of trees have been uprooted at the new Moor Wood, near Corams Lane, and a line of trees have been flattened.
Sally Gosney, who is manager of the St Margaret's Somerset Hospice shop in the town, and who walks her dog in the area, said: "A whole row of trees has been flattened.
"It was a moronic thing to do, but I doubt if many people will be very surprised.
"The trees were planted near a cycle recreational area."
