A MINUTE'S silence was observed for Ch Supt Sandy Padgett, Somerset West police division commander, by members of Wellington Town Council at last night's meeting.

Tributes have poured in for Ch Supt Padgett, who died suddenly on Saturday.

Sgt Stuart Bell, based at Wellington police station, said she had taken a keen interest in what was going on in Wellington.

"Her sudden death has knocked us all sideways," he said.
