THE Post Office is promising to deliver a much improved service to customers in Rockwell Green from next month.
The new-style office will be open seven days a week and will open earlier and close later as it operates an extra 25 hours a week.
Post Office Services will be provided from a low-screened Post Office service point on the right hand side as customers enter the shop. The open-plan counter will make it easier for staff and customers to have discreet conversations. Customers will also be asked to stand back from the counter when awaiting service.
Services will be available Monday to Friday 6am-6pm; Saturday 6am-2pm; and Sunday 6am-noon.
The branch closes for refurbishment next Thursday (July 7) at 5.30pm and the new-style Post Office will open on Wednesday, July 13, at 1pm. Alternative branches in the area include Wellington Post Office, One Stop Stores, 20 High Street, Wellington, and Hemyock Post Office, Hemyock.
Post Office area manager David Gold said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.
“We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs. This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office, and will secure services for the future.”
Local residents and small business customers will be able to access a wide range of Post Office and mail services including Special Delivery, Local Collect, home shopping returns, online banking cash deposits and withdrawals. Other services include Post Office Card Account withdrawals, sending funds abroad using Moneygram, and customers can also pay bills, pre-order travel money, apply for travel insurance and top up mobile phones.
