Keen walker Steve Slocombe, who lives in Victoria Street, Wellington, is stepping to it for St Margaret’s Hospice.
Steve, 50, is walking four miles each day over 14 days from mum Carol’s home on the town relief road to Wellington Monument to raise money for the charity.
Steve, who is not working at the moment because of the coronavirus lockdown, is aiming to raise £1,000 through social media pages.
He said: “I enjoy walking and have been doing it quite a bit over the last few weeks since the lockdown came in. So I thought why not earn a bit of money at the same time.”
His father, Rodney, who died in 2015, was cared for by St Margaret’s Hospice nurses.
Anyone who would like to contribute to Steve’s fundraising can do so via JustGiving or Facebook by searching slokeys monument
