THE co-owner of Odette’s tea room in High Street, Wellington, has presented the £4,833 proceeds of a sponsored walk in aid of the restoration of Wellington Monument to the National Trust.

Nancy Powell-Brace (right) walked 180 miles from Cleopatra’s Needle in London to Wellington Monument in just one week in September.

Emma Jones (left), the trust’s community fundraising and engagement officer for Wellington Monument, said: “I am bowled over by Nancy. Her determination and passion for the monument is inspiring.

“Thank you to everyone who sponsored this incredible fundraiser and, obviously, an enormous monumental thank you to Nancy!”
