THE Somerset County Show will be launched at Taunton Racecourse later this month.

Equestrian enthusiasts will be well catered for with polo, hunting and the Pony Club all represented, along with the British trials and scurry driving team event and Shetland Pony Grand National.

Field sports of all disciplines are included with an open clay shoot, gun dog scurries, archery and paintball range, with have-a-go facilities available under expert supervision.

Dog lovers can enjoy gun dog demonstrations, army dog demos and a fun dog show at 3pm each day. Tone FM is hosting a community stage with Richard Huish College, up and coming local talent will include individuals, bands and choirs from all over Somerset. Butlin’s is also joining in with its entertainment team.

Celebrity chef Lesley Waters is hosting cookery demonstrations alongside ten Somerset chefs throughout the weekend, who will be creating a range of dishes using local produce available from the artisan producers in the three-floor food and drink building. Street food, along with local beer and cider, is also on offer.

Classic and vintage cars will be converging from all over the county and plenty of activities for children will include cookery classes, fun fair, climbing wall, bouncy castles, ferret racing and alpaca village – and visitors can go along and meet 40 Commando. Local retail and craft traders are also attending.

Mobility scooter hire is available on site and entrance is free for carers with disabled badge holders.
