Somerset landlords are to receive fresh support thanks to a new project, organised by The Centre for Sustainable Energy.
The scheme will help to support and advise landlords with their changing energy efficiency requirements.
The Minimum Energy Efficiency Standard (MEES) have minimum energy efficiency regulations for domestic private rental properties that must be met by all landlords.
Current regulations demand that all rented properties must meet Band B and E. However, the government has announced a plan to increase the requirements to C, which will apply to all new tenancies as of 2025 and existing tenancies from 2028.
The project will help landlords to better understand these adaptations and will guide them through the process of improving their properties.
The project pilot is now live and until 2024, will undergo testing. If the pilot succeeds, it will be rolled out nationally.
If Somerset landlords seek additional advice about the service, they can call 0800 1380 810 or visit www.cse.org.uk/support-for-landlords.
