NEW faces are taking the helm of Wellington Food Fair – and they are bringing their expertise from a similar Somerset event with them.
Beverley and Sarah Milner Simonds, who will initially have support from the outgoing food town committee, are the driving force behind the successful Burnham-on-Sea Food & Drink Festival.
They have also run the demonstration kitchen at the last two Wellington food fairs.
The Burnham festival has a similar ethos and feel to the Wellington event and many of the traders are the same.
Beverley and Sarah’s first aim is to meet the community groups and the many volunteers who have been vital to Wellington Food Fair’s success and listen to them.
Sarah said: “Wellington Food Fair is a great event and we are looking forward to working with many familiar traders, the committed group of volunteers, community groups and the Wellington town centre businesses to continue the festival in the style and manner you have come to expect.”
Beverley said: “We have worked alongside the committee at the last two festivals, organising and compering the demo stage in the Scout Hall.
“We know what a well-loved and well run event this is and we will be working hard to protect that reputation.
“We know that there is a huge interest in the brilliant food and drink producers who feature in the fair and the areas rich food culture is worthy of future celebrations.”

This year’s food fair is planned for Saturday, September 3.
