WELLINGTON Police Station is a Neighbourhood Police Station. The team is made up of one Sergeant, three PCs and five PCSOs. The enquiry office is open to the public from 10am-2pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

As neighbourhood officers our role is to be visible in the community, engage with the public, to identify and protect those most vulnerable, to reduce crime and Anti Social Behaviour (ASB), to work with external partners across the town in identifying and solving ongoing problems and to deal with protracted neighbourhood issues that could have a detrimental effect on the community if not resolved.

Twenty-four hour day-to-day policing across Wellington is provided by police officers who work out of Taunton police station. These officers attend early late and night tour briefings in Taunton during which their Sergeants task them with patrolling different geographical areas.

Once the briefing has finished, the officers tasked with patrolling Wellington patrol this area for the duration of their shift. These are local officers who work closely with the Wellington team to ensure they have a good understanding of any problems or ongoing issues in our town. While Wellington Police Station is used by these officers as a hub 24 hours a day, police issued mobile phones, laptops and vehicles with wi-fi enable officers to remain on patrol in and around the town without having to routinely return to the station.

Avon and Somerset Police uses analytical data to identify crime and ASB hotspots, and to plan patrols to try and ensure we’re in the right places at the right time. Crime in Wellington is low in comparison to other areas within the force and further afield. This is for a number of reasons like the closeness of the communities that make up our town, the commitment and dedication of the officers that make up the Wellington Police Team and the very strong and established working relationships we have with many external partners across the town.

Even though crime and anti-social behaviour in Wellington is low, one theft, burglary or incident of anti-social behaviour is, of course, one too many. To ensure crime stays low, we all have to work together.

Members of the public can help us to keep our communities safe by calling 101 – 999 in an emergency – or by making a report online via the Avon and Somerset Police website to inform us of any incidents of anti-social behaviour, possible drug dealing or to report a crime – visit www.avonandsomerset.police.uk/report.

I will be reporting to you on a monthly basis.
