Townsfolk in Wellington will have the chance to remember the Duke of Edinburgh in a special open air service in the churchyard at St John’s Church on Sunday.
The Duke died last Friday (April 9) at the age of 99.
Wellington Town Council, along with the parish church, is holding the service at 3pm in recognition of his long and distinguished service to the crown, the country and the Commonwealth.
Rev Tim Treanor, the team rector, will lead the service, at which social distancing guidelines will apply. Mayor of Wellington Cllr Janet Lloyd and town councillors will attend, as well as the president and members of the Wellington branch of the Royal British Legion.
Everyone is invited, especially individuals who had a personal connection with the Duke, including those who took part in his award scheme.
