FIVE students from Wellington School have received offers from the elite Oxford and Cambridge universities.

Charlie Pemberton has an offer from Cambridge for Classics, Catherine Bridges has an offer for Classics at Oxford, William Langdon has an offer for Biological Sciences at Oxford, Kieran Wachsmuth has an offer for Physics at Oxford and Lydia Buckingham has an offer for Mathematics at Merton College, Oxford.

The school’s headmaster, Henry Price, said: “We are incredibly proud of Charlie, Catherine, Kieran, Will and Lydia’s achievement in receiving offers from Cambridge and Oxford universities, particularly given that Oxford University received a record number of applications this year.

“This is a reflection of not just their significant academic potential but, perhaps more importantly, of the many years’ hard work, commitment and dedication to their studies that has brought them to this point.

“As a classicist, I am delighted that we have two students taking Classics next year and have had a number over the years moving to Oxbridge or Yale to study this rewarding subject. While some independent schools have decided not to offer Classics, the continued success of our students proves that they are enthused by and rise to its challenges.”
