PARENTS at Wellesley Park Primary School are strongly backing the school after the WWN recently reported an allegation of bullying against a pupil.

The parents say the school has an exceptional sense of community, a strong Parent Teacher Association (PTA), outstanding outdoor space – including its own forest school – and that all the teachers work relentlessly hard.

More than 20 parents signed a letter to the WWN in a few minutes at school pick-up time last Thursday backing Wellesley Park.

A parent, who asked to remain anonymous, said: “As a result of the collaboration between parents and teachers, we have happy and confident children. We are proud to be a part of Wellesley Park Primary School.”

The parents said the school has been an integral part of the community for the past 42 years and highlighted some of the feedback it received in its last inspection by schools watchdog Ofsted in November 2015.

The personal development, behaviour and welfare of children is a priority of staff. Systems, approaches and routines established early ensure that children develop and grow in confidence and independence.

As a result of good leadership and management, the quality of teaching in early years is highly effective.

Outcomes were above average, all disadvantaged children made good progress and a very high proportion reached a good level of development.

The parent added: “Everyone’s educational journey is unique and unfortunately some schools, or pupils attending the school, do go through difficult times. The opinion of the few does not reflect accurately on the school as a whole.”
