PENSIONER Maureen Heald-Gledhill, of Blackmoor Road, Wellington, is finally all set to do a sponsored parachute jump in aid of the Multiple Sclerosis Trust.
She had planned to jump at Dunkeswell Airfield earlier this summer but after breaking her wrist was forced to put it off until next Saturday (September 3).
Maureen, 72, who was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis four decades ago, will be doing a tandem parachute jump from 10,000ft.
She said: “After a multiple wrist fracture delayed my ‘Jump in June’ I am now ready to ‘Spring in September’. It has given me extra days to get sponsorship for the Multiple Sclerosis Trust.
“MS is the most common form of neurological disability in young adults, affecting 100,000 in the UK – I was 30 when diagnosed.
“Everyone knows the negative images that a diagnosis can conjure up but while no-one denies that MS can be devastating, positive steps can be taken to improve quality of life. MS may be incurable but it is far from untouchable.
“The MS Trust is a leading independent UK charity for people with MS, their families and friends, and for all health and social care professionals who work with them.
“It provides information, professional education and funds practical research.”
Maureen would like to raise £5,000 – anyone who wants to sponsor her can do so by contacting her at 13 Blackmoor Road, Wellington TA21 8ED, on
