A WELLINGTON woman has been left distraught and angry after her pet Chihuahua was attacked and seriously hurt by a ‘big black dog’ at Lancer Court near Asda on Saturday.

Pepe, who is six, was still at Mount Vets yesterday (Tuesday) being treated for a serious neck wound among other injuries.

Josey McCannon, who lives just off the High Street in Wellington, said she was simply walking her dog when the attack took place.

The woman owner of the other dog ‘passed off the attack as if it were nothing,’ said Mrs McCannon.

“I screamed and tried to get the dog off Pepe,” she added. “There was blood everywhere. “It happened so quickly I don’t know whether the young woman had her dog on a lead or not. Even so it was a vicious attack – the dog should never have been allowed to go near other dogs.

“I’m in such a state – I don’t know even what time of the day it is. Pepe is such a wee darling. I don’t know what I would do without her.”

“I have to thank a lady who saw the attack and took Pepe and me straight to the vets. I don’t know who she was but I would like to thank her.

“This has all been so upsetting for me. Pepe is loved by everyone and is beautiful. She didn’t deserve this.”
