Churchstanton Primary School had a special visit from Pete the Poet to kickstart its English learning this half-term.

Pete is an award-winning performance poet who promotes the values of race and gender equality. He worked with every child in the school in tailor-made workshops linking with the school’s topic of Trailblazers.

The pupils had been learning about significant people in history such as Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks, Mary Anning and Earnest Shackleton, and Pete expertly developed their knowledge and attitudes through poetry.

The children thoroughly enjoyed their day and will now further work on their performance poems ready for A Poetry Prowl Performance in the school forest at the end of term for all the parents and friends of the school to enjoy.
