Visitors to Wellington Monument will be able find out more about how restoration work is going at a new information stand.
National Trust volunteers at the stand will also be able to accept donations for pieces of stone from the structure, which cannot be used in the restoration. The pieces come with a certificate of provenance and are about the size of a paperweight.
Young visitors are being given ‘Make Yourself Monuments, and animal and butterfly identification cards.
It is hoped the restoration project will be completed next summer and that for a small fee visitors will be able to walk to the top of the monument on certain days.
The stall is open Wednesday and Sunday until the end of September, from 10am-2pm.
