A FLYING instructor from Dunkeswell has broken his own Guinness World Record by flying 45 different aircraft to 2,000 feet in one day.
The previous record stood at 43 but Jim Greenshields’ attempt on Sunday was hampered by fog which reduced his flying time by two hours.
“The record will be broken again,” said Jim (right) who set the record to raise funds and awareness for the Make-A-Wish Foundation UK – a charity which grants wishes to children and young people fighting lift-threatening conditions.
Jim has over 11,000 hours flying time logged in more then 200 different aircraft types, including vintage, aerobatic and modern and has raised thousands of pounds for Make-A-Wish over the years.
“We set the previous record of 43 aircraft in 2014 but ran out of aircraft with daylight still left,” he added.
“The fog delayed aircraft from coming into Dunkeswell. I would like to thank all the ground crew – at least ten – who were there for the whole 18 hours.”
