PUPILS at primary schools in Wellington gave their take on what the Armed Forces mean to them in a poetry competition launched by the town council.

The competition was run as the council could not celebrate Armed Forces Day in the park because of coronavirus restrictions.

Youngsters came up with moving words and well drawn illustrations, which made judging difficult for Wellington Mayor Cllr Janet Lloyd, who presented the prizes of £10 book vouchers for the winners and £5 for the runner-up.
