POLICE are clamping down – literally – on vehicles in Wellington found to be without insurance or tax.
The monthly police report which went before Wellington Town Council this month said a ‘number of vehicles were seized for no insurance’.
And Cllr Mark Lithgow said: “There have been a number of vehicles clamped for having no tax.”
PCSO Simon Bramley, of Wellington Police, earlier this month posted a photograph on social media site Facebook of a car which had been clamped in the town.
“Don’t forget to tax your car,” he said. “The DVLA are about and do know who is and is not taxed.”
The move to clamp illegal vehicles has been welcomed by people in Wellington.
One person, speaking on social media, said ‘good’ and another wrote ‘about time’.
Anyone who suspects a vehicle of having no insurance, MoT or tax can contact police on 101.
