THE Poppy of Honour – a giant steel and glass memorial poppy – was on display in the centre of Wellington on Monday as part of commemorations for the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War.
The poppy contained individual handwritten names of more than a million men and women who went missing or were killed during the war.
Refreshments were available by the poppy – outside the main Police Office in High Street – with proceeds going to the Poppy Appeal.
A 4 x 4 driven by John Lowe was used to tow the massive poppy after the original vehicle was involved in an accident.
