PUPILS, teachers, parents and friends of Sampford Arundel School are planning a special send-off for Linda Welden, who is retiring.

Mrs Welden's career in teaching stretches back to the 1970s, the last 16 years of which have been at Sampford Arundel.

Head teacher Eddie East said: "Frequently seen in the village leading her class on their weekly welly walks she has made a tremendous contribution to the school and will be greatly missed.

"She will also be remembered with respect, admiration and affection by ex-pupils many of whom will be grateful to her for having had a significant influence on their lives."

A tea party is planned to take place on Thursday, July 19 between 3.15pm-4.30pm and the school is trying to get in touch with as many past pupils and their families as possible to invite them to join in. Ring the school on 01823 672342 for details.
