RGB Building Supplies, which has branches in Wellington and Wiveliscombe, has given building materials to lots of good causes since launching its Surprise Supplies initiative last May.

It has supported businesses which had to close for large parts of the pandemic, groups which went above and beyond to support members of their communities in the past 18 months, and charities which struggled to complete projects without extra help.

For its last giveaway of the current campaign, RGB is inviting schools, colleges, community groups, care homes, charities and community interest companies to get in touch and explain how a donation of £1,000 worth of building materials would benefit them.

Whatever the project an organisation would like to complete - from transforming an outdoor area or decorating a premises to updating facilities or constructing extra space - RGB would like to hear about it.

From all the nominations received, the builders merchant will choose a selection of finalists and ask the public to vote for two groups to each receive £1,000 to spend at their local RGB branch.

Phil Sparks, branch manager at RGB Wiveliscombe, said: "From all the nominations we’ve received since launching our Surprise Supplies initiative it’s clear there are amazing organisations that do so much to support others in our community but need help to complete a project they are unable to fund themselves.

"For previous giveaways we have limited nominations to specific categories, but for the final donations we wanted to open Surprise Supplies to every organisation. We look forward to hearing how groups would like to use the £1,000."

Nominations and applications can be made by emailing [email protected] and explaining how £1,000 worth of building materials would be used. Nominations can also be posted to RGB Community Fund, c/o PMW, PO Box 167, Bideford, Devon EX39 9DU. The closing date is Monday, January 31.
