WESSEX Water has been slammed for digging up a Wellington road over the weekend – just a month after a £100,000 resurfacing scheme was completed.

The utilities firm was installing a new water pipe for a property in North Street and connecting it to the mains supply running under the centre of the carriageway.

Workmen initially turned up days after North Street was resurfaced but they were stopped when Wellington town councillor

Marcus Barr spotted them parking near his shop Wanted, which buys clothing and other items people no longer want.
