BRIAN Standing from Wellington Methodist Church presents a cheque for £1,300 to Bridget John from the charity Hearing Dogs for the Deaf.

The church has supported the charity, which helps more than 900 deaf people, for the past year. The dogs, when trained, bring independence, confidence and companionship to their owners – on some occasions they have saved their owners’ lives.

The church will be supporting Wellington Stroke Club for the next two years.
