ALL eyes across Taunton Deane will be on a public inquiry starting in three weeks’ time into plans for a 265-homes development on the outskirts of Wellington.

The planning application by Gladman Developments for a site off Exeter Road, Rockwell Green, has been called probably the most important in the town for a generation.

Somerset county councillor John Thorne told the WWN: “If Gladman wins this appeal against the Deane council’s refusal of planning permission, it has the potential to change the look of every community in the borough.

“The Exeter Road site is outside Wellington’s development boundary, so if Gladman is allowed to go ahead here, it means almost no site in the Deane will be safe from new housing proposals.

“Gladman already has a very similar scheme waiting in the wings just outside my county council division, in Creech St Michael, and no doubt every other housing developer will be jumping on the bandwagon if this appeal is successful.
