THE Wellington Flower Show took place last Saturday the results on show at the Alan Rogers Centre were spectacular – despite a difficult and unpredictable growing season.

The number of entries was the highest for many years and were up by over 30 per cent on last year.

Organisers were thrilled by the number of new exhibitors and the support they received from various groups, in particular the photography group from the Wellington WI and members of the Taunton Floral Art Club.

While organisers stressed that they greatly valued the support of many exhibitors who remain loyal to the show and have exhibited over many years.

Presenting the prizes and cups this year was Vic Verrier MBE who commented on the high standard of exhibits, in particular in the vegetable section, which saw an increase in entries.

Fine weather ensured a high number of visitors and as well as viewing the items on show in the hall, people were able to purchase plants from Whitepost Nursery and Ford Nursery.

The Spring Show will be held on April 6 next year at Wellington Prep School and organisers look forward to welcoming exhibitors and visitors alike.
