GENERAL Election hustings will be held in Wiveliscombe later this month when questions on climate change, Europe and other important issues will be taken.

Four candidates for Taunton Deane have accepted an invitation to attend: Clive Martin for the Green Party, Martin Jevon for the Labour Party, Gideon Amos for the Liberal Democrats and Alan Dimmick from UKIP. Rebecca Pow for the Conservatives has decided not to take part.

The hustings have been organised by Wivey Action on Climate. A spokesperson said: “We are disappointed Rebecca Pow has decided not to take part in hustings in Wiveliscombe, a centre for a large part of the Taunton Deane constituency. We still anticipate a large turn-out and look forward to an engaging and interesting debate, which will be chaired by Julian Mellor.”

The hustings are on Tuesday, May 30, at 7.30pm – doors open 7pm – and finish at 9pm in the main hall at Kingsmead School, South Street.

The format will be similar to BBC’s Question Time. Questions must be submitted in advance to [email protected] by noon on May 25.
