I am disappointed reading the WWN (March 25) regarding a letter sniping at the government of the day over care needs.
I also do not understand the need for sticking a label on different groups of people – the ’British narcissistic me two generation’.
I have a grand-daughter who will be 24 next month and had trained and worked in a care home near her for the last five years – she is not the only one by any means.
As I write this morning I hear on the news that nearly half a million people young and not so young have stepped up to volunteer their services to help – no labels, please.
When this is over, life will not be the same and I hope a better, more understanding society will come about.
My other point concerns the article about supermarkets (WWN, March 25). I was last out on Wednesday, March 18, and our local greengrocer had plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. In Waitrose staff and management were pushing out trolley after trolley of goods and fruit and vegetables.
Blame and politics should not be the order of the day – it is not the time as we face an unprecedented ’health war’. I suggest Cllr John Thorne has a walk around our lovely town more often and uses the local shops as I and many more do.
I was born 1935, so I am not a spring chicken any more. and trundle around on a mobility scooter. Stay safe at home, stay well and try and keep smiling.
