WWN photo contributor John Harmsworth brought in this photo of the red-looking sun and reddish sky that could be seen on Monday morning.
Mr Harmsworth, of Monument Close, Wellington, took the photo from his back garden at 11.15am.
The phenomenon was caused by the remnants of Hurricane Ophelia dragging in tropical air and dust from the Sahara, and debris from forest fires in Portugal and Spain. The dust caused shorter wavelength blue light to be scattered, making it appear red.
