JUBILEE Gardens in Wiveliscombe will host a road safety event open to the public on Saturday (October 26).
The event is organised by In The Mix Project, a local community charity, with sponsorship via Wiveliscombe Town Council, UK Youth and delivery company UPS.
The event will include activities, games and road safety advice offered by event partners including Ellison School of Motoring, Wiveliscombe Area Partnership, Stand Against Speed 4 Bethany and other organisations.
The event, between 10am-2pm, is under the auspices of the Road Code programme, a nationwide learning scheme for young people to heighten their awareness as pedestrians, become more assertive passengers and safe drivers of the future. In The Mix Project is hosting and delivering sessions across the county in schools until January.
Nick Harvey, of In The Mix Project, said: “Road Code is a really positive programme that enables young people to become more aware of how to drive properly on the road but also how to be safer and more confident passengers and pedestrians.
“We all know that speeding and dangerous driving can blight lives and damage communities. We hope this programme will go some way to combating that on a local level and the event on Saturday will be a great opportunity to incorporate lots of partners who all have a vested interest in safe driving and proper road conduct. Everyone is welcome and we hope all who attend enjoy a fun and enlightening experience with lots of cake too!”
