WELLINGTON’S Carnival Royalty will be appearing at Taunton Carnival on Saturday evening following appearances in Ilminster and Chard after their home town event.

It will be their final South Somerset Carnival but they will also be entrants in the Royalty float class in Honiton later this month. Honiton is part of the Devon carnival circuit.

Carnival secretary Louise Brierley said: “While the girls were at Ilminster, we made use of the opportunity to select the winner of £100 for those who purchased a souvenir programme and returned competition slips to the Carnival secretary or WWN office. Thank you to everyone who supported Wellington Carnival by purchasing a souvenir programme. The lucky winner selected was Sarah Cole, who resides in Burnham-on-Sea. Many congratulations from Wellington Carnival.”

Miss W co-ordinator Angie Filler said: “As part of the organising committee, I want to mention a special thanks to Andy Bowrah and his staff at Wellington Motors, who have supported Wellington Carnival for a number of years now.

“The fact they find the time to put something back into the community by providing top of the range vehicles for the girls is extremely appreciated. Being transported to various towns in such prestigious vehicles – complete with Wellington Royalty livery – really adds value to their experience. This is an experience that will live with the girls for the rest of their lives.”
