PLANS to convert a Wellington pub, the scene of a brutal murder, into flats have been given conditional approval by Taunton Deane Borough Council.
Finale Properrties Limited, of Wormelow, Herefordshire, is planning to turn the Sanford Arms, South Street into 11 one-and two-bedroom flats.
Although the pub was advertised nationally, nobody could be found to take it on after David Robinson, now 50, was handed a life sentence for killing Steve Bowden, an ex-partner of Brenda Grensted, his fiancee, four years ago.
Mr Bowden was shot in the head at point-blank range as he sat on a stool in the public bar.
