SANTA will be in Wellington for the town’s big Christmas Lights Switch-on on Saturday (6pm).

Wellington Majorettes will escort him in his sleigh from South Street to the WWN office in High Street and he will be ready for photos from 4.30-7pm. Entry is free with a coupon from the newspaper – published in last week’s and

this week’s editions – or for a 50p fee.

The High Street will be closed to traffic from 4pm for a variety of activities. Those include music and entertainment provided by Wellington Pantomime Society, the Celebration of Light at the Quaker Meeting House and a double decker playbus for children.

Mayor of Wellington Bob Bowrah, helped by two pupils from Rockwell Green Primary School, will switch on the lights.

Once again Langford Lakes has given a large Christmas tree to the town which was erected on Monday.
