A COURT Fields Community School, Wellington student has presented a soldiers' charity with a cheque for £500 after persuading her head teacher to hand over the cash.

Student Lucy May's older brother, Royal Marine Daniel May, was looked after by the charity Help Our Wounded Royal Marines after he ran 32 miles across Dartmoor on a gruelling training exercise with a fractured ankle, carrying a heavy back pack.

Persuasive Lucy, 16, told the story of her brother's ordeal to former Court Fields head teacher, Elaine Faull, who agreed to donate the proceeds of the school's summer fete to the charity.
