Staff and students at Wellesley Park Primary School in Wellington have plenty of reasons to celebrate this week, after OFSTED deemed the school to be ‘Good’ in all areas.
The education watchdog noted improvements across all areas of the school during a full, two-day inspection.
It particularly noted excellent pupil behaviour, full inclusivity, well supported SEND provision, broad and balanced curriculum, strong leadership and effective teaching throughout the school.
The inspectors praised the school’s values and ethos, stating they were clearly evident as ‘pupils display positive attitudes and take pride in their work.’

This good outcome is achieved through a strong collaboration between leaders and teaching staff, whose ambitious new curriculum aims to develop pupils’ knowledge and skills.
Headteacher Carly Wilkins said: “We are delighted with our recent OFSTED report which acknowledges the hard work and dedication that all of our staff and pupils put into their work at Wellesley Park Primary School.
“It was recognised that ‘everyone makes sure pupils enjoy school, learn in a stimulating and supportive environment while feeling safe and cared for…’ as is evidenced by pupils eagerly bouncing into school each morning.”
She added: “We are so thrilled with our pupils’ good behaviour and, as expected, they were seen to behave well and concentrate on their activities, without the need for reminders. I am so proud to be the headteacher of our wonderful school and I look forward to further building on our current success.”
Sarah Watson, chief executive of The Castle Partnership Trust, of which Wellesley Park Primary School is a member, said: “We are incredibly proud of everyone at the school - staff and pupils alike.
“I am particularly pleased that the pupils reported how much they love being at Wellesley Park School and that their hard work has been recognised.
“Mrs Wilkins and all teaching and supporting staff have created a very happy school where children enjoy learning and thrive. To have this recognised by OFSTED is extremely rewarding and very well deserved.
“The values deeply embedded in our trust’s vision - that every child will Achieve, Belong and Participate - are clearly reflected in Wellesley Park’s ‘Good’ OFSTED result.”
