SITE supervisor Julian Hayes from Gay Street, Wellington, will be stepping out of his comfort zone when he steps into the boxing ring at Somerset County Cricket club next weekend.

Julian, 31, is one of 40 people with no background in the fight game taking part in the Ultra White Collar Boxing event in Taunton to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

The gentle giant has slimmed down 19st 2lb to 17st 10lb during his eight-week training programme with more sessions still to do before his bout on Saturday, May 5.

The Ultra White Collar Boxing Club website says £12,232,588 has been raised for Cancer Research UK by 127,973 fundraisers, and that more than 40,000 participants have completed the eight weeks of training.

Anyone who would like to support Julian’s fundraising can visit his Facebook page which has links to his Just Giving page and for tickets.
