RESIDENTS of Clayhidon in the Blackdown Hills have been told a dangerous junction into the rural parish will not get its old iron signpost back.
Somerset Highways has told Clayhidon Parish Council it has no budget to replace the signpost, which was flattened in a serious accident 18 months ago.
Clayhidon parish councillor Alison Weekes says anyone reaching the top of Ford Street from Wellington is faced with a crossroads on the fast ridge road which is unsignposted.
There are HGV warning signs, two out of date brown signs and a pub sign but no indication Chard is one way, Wellington, Hemyock and Clayhidon the others.
Somerset Highways has surrounded the remains of the signpost with bright red barriers but says it has no intention to replace it.
